A Natural Haven for Happier, Healthier Horses

In Huger, South Carolina, Mustang Alley Ranch offers a pasture-style boarding experience that prioritizes your horse’s well-being and your peace of mind. We offer a variety of configurations, depending on whether your horse enjoys their own space or thrives in a small herd.

Unlike traditional boarding facilities where horses spend half their lives locked in small stalls, we embrace a more natural approach. We believe horses are happiest and healthiest when they can live as nature intended—roaming freely in open spaces, grazing on lush grass, and socializing with their neighbors. Studies, like those from the American Association of Equine Practitioners, state that horses in natural environments experience less stress, fewer digestive issues like colic, and improved joint health compared to those confined in stalls.

Here at Mustang Alley, your horse will enjoy ample room for moving around as they please to promote physical health, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being. With a commitment to equine hospitality, we’re creating a sanctuary where horses thrive and boarders feel like family.

CARE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Spacious Fields:  Grassy paddocks with sturdy Flex Fencing, private or shared (maintaining at least 0.5-acre per horse)

  • Large Shelters:  24/7 access to brand new 12' x 12' run-ins (larger paddocks have multiple shelters)

  • Automatic Waterers:  To keep fresh water cool and flowing at all times

  • Nutritious Feeding:  Round bales of high-quality hay, and grain feedings twice daily

  • Equipment and Tack Storage:  Key-locked cabinet (48 cu ft) for saddles, tack, and personal belongings

  • Trailer Parking:  Secure parking spots for your horse trailer, ready for trail rides or emergencies

  • 24/7 Oversight:  Owners live on-site, providing round-the-clock monitoring

  • Trail Access:  Close proximity to Francis Marion National Forest horse trails

  • Secure Environment:  Perimeter fencing around the 40-acre property, with a new passcode-gated entry coming soon

The facility shares the property with our family residence where we're usually found pampering our own beloved pets (horses, mini donkeys, goats, sheep, Holland Lop rabbits, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and turkeys). Nestled against the Francis Marion National Forest, miles of maintained trails offer you and your horse endless riding opportunities— including Tuxbury Trail and Swampfox Passage of the Palmetto Trail, both of which are just a quick 5-minute drive away.

Grassy paddocks feature free-choice salt blocks and large run-in shelters with shaded automatic waterers, offering horses 24/7 access to shelter from the Lowcountry’s sun or rain—without the confinement of a stall. Neighboring horses lets your equine companion socialize safely to foster a sense of herd connection, reduce anxiety, and enhance happiness. Whether it’s basking in the sunshine or nuzzling a friend across the fence, your horse will live a free and fuller life at Mustang Alley Ranch.
