Greater Broadleaf Plantain Seeds - Flowering Herbaceous Broadleaf Perennial

*  Species is hermaphrodite / self-fertile / pollinated by wind
*  Does well in compacted or disturbed soils
*  Plant produces 20,000 seeds annually - can be ground into a flour substitute
*  Leaves are boiled or steeped for salads and teas - high in calcium and carotene
*  A wet dressing is made from the leaves for wounds / swelling / bleeding
*  Consumed to treat diarrhea / ulcers / bronchitis
*  Pliable & tough fibers from mature plants are used in survival situations ( cords / sutures / braids / fishing line )
*  Very hardy and drought tolerant

Harvest:  Leaves = anytime;  Roots / Whole Plant = in fall after flowering


1.  Sow seeds 1/4" deep in small pots or flats with moistened seed-starting mix. Spritz with water to settle into soil.
2.  Place in a spot with warm, indirect sun and keep soil moist. Germination should occur in 21-28 days. 
3.  Resize into bigger pots as needed. Transplant 4” tall seedlings 12” apart after last frost. Protect young plants during the first few winters.


***  Harvest leaves anytime as needed; Harvest whole plant / roots in the fall when weather is cool.
