Hawthorn Tree Seeds - Deciduous Edible Fruit

*  Common Names = Chinese Hawthorn, Mountain Hawthorn, Hawberry, Mountain Haw, Red Sun Hawthorn Shan Zha
*  Grows well near riverbanks, stony slopes, and among shrubs in sandy soils
*  Drought-tolerant, fast-growing, and low-maintenance
*  TCM Herb name Shan Zha
*  The fruit is rich is antioxidants & vitamins; eaten raw, dried or cooked into pies and preserves
*  Used in home remedies for cardio health, improving digestion, boosting cognitive function
*  Topical application is used for burns, sores, acne, eczema, and to brighten skin tone

1.  Seeds need a Warm-Cold-Warm cycle to germinate. Warm-stratify 60-90 days in a bag w/moist seed-starting mix. Keep soil moist, but not soggy. Then cold-stratify 60-90 days in the fridge/cold-frame with fresh seed-starting mix. 
2.  After last frost, plant seeds 3/4" deep in pots with fresh seed-starting mix. Place in warm indirect sunlight and keep soil moist. 
3.  Resize into bigger pots as needed and transplant in permanent location once well-established after last frost. Protect during the first few winters.
